R.I.P. TreeSixtyFive

Well, I didn’t take my tree photo today. This is not a good sign. I know me, and if I miss one day, I will miss another, therefore I have decided to dismantle my TreeSixtyFive blog. I mean, it probably would have happened sooner or later, especially since I am weenie-sitting for my parents Dec 21-23, and then in Milton for the holidays, so who would have taken the pics then?

Le sigh.

If a tree blog falls when it has no followers, does it make a sound?

R.I.P TreeSixtyFive!

Yours in solidarity,
Co-Ho.

A saunter in the park

On the way to get Milo some cat food at Pet Valu (his fav is Duck & Green Pea by Natural Balance), I had a lovely saunter through High Park. It’s November 23rd, and a sunny 15 degrees outside. I only wore a vest, no gloves or scarf! Mon dieu! Here’s what I took in:

I just love the random yellow leaf against a bright blue sky! So fleeting! Oh and I found this cute church across from the Pet Valu that I need to investigate further:

That’s all for now… off to some meetings for Innings Gate Co.

Coco Recommends: Vintage London map umbrella

As you may or may not already know, being part British, rain is my favourite weather. So this CocoHobo recommends enjoying these Canadian or English rainy days ahead with a delightful new brolly, such as the Vintage London Map Umbrella by London Undercover.

Available exclusively at Selfridges, LU has designed this umbrella for Selfridges as part of their Xmas ‘Play’ theme. Part of the premium range, the Double Layer umbrella consists of a modest, plain black exterior with a special Alphabetti print inside. (The two brand names are hidden within the pattern and on the woven label outside.) This umbrella is made with a traditional metal frame and runner on a Beech wood shaft & handle which also includes a silver tip cup & plate engraved with the London Undercover premium logo.

London Undercover makes amazing umbrellas. When I can afford it (and the shipping costs to Toronto), I shall one day own this.

Enjoy,
x

‘Tis beginning to look a lot like Xmas (at least indoors anyway)

Yesterday, before we went shopping along the Mink Mile, me and my Momsies put up my Christmas decorations. Here is my newly festive (faux) fireplace:

I am unsure whether I will get a proper tree. I have decorated my potted palm (aka Mr. Plant) but it’s a little too Charlie Brown’s Tropical Christmas for me to display online just yet. Maybe when I decide officially not to replace him with a more localized evergreen specimen.

Toods for now,

Recipe: Cabbage soup

This is a take on the Cabbage Soup Diet but I eat it because it’s delicious, not that I’ve ever experienced any weight-loss due to it! I also find it handy for using up my delivered organic fruits ‘n’ veg.

You will need:

3 – carrots
1 – parsnip
1 – sweet pertater
3 – leeks (trimmed and washed)
1/2 – green cabbage
1 – tin of chopped tomatoes in garlic & oil (pre-spiced! so easy!)
1 – tin of condensed organic veg stock (I used President’s Choice)
3 – garlic cloves, pressed
1 inch – fresh ginger root, minced
1 – bouquet garni of black peppercorns and coriander seeds
water to cover

Directions:

Wash and chop all the veg relatively evenly into bite-sized pieces. Sweat the veg until they start to brown in the bottom of your slowcooker (on high). Add the stock, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and water to cover. Chuck in the bouquet garni. Bring to a boil for maybe 20-30mins, then put on low and simmer until the veg are soft (about 2hrs). I didn’t whiz this soup up, but you could if you wanted (removing the bouquet garni first of course).

Serve with fresh bakery bread and unsalted butter. Weight-loss never tasted so good!

Enjoy,
x
